In Turbulence Comes Peace

...This week felt so long and busy. I hate it when I can't get a moment to myself. Sometimes, if I can, I just lay in bed and stare at the ceiling ~ such a nice feeling. (This girl's currently taking up yoga ~ Shhh!)

These photos were taken before break. It was the perfect day for shooting because of the overcast...but it was also ridiculously windy. (I'm pretty little so sometimes I feel like I'm just going to fly away) Impossible? I think not.

I never thought to pair this cardigan with a belt and dress ~ the results are so chic.

Today I'm hoping to catch up life. Do you ever feel that way? That you're just falling behind in everything? I hate that feeling. I have several readings to do, a room to clean, a photography shoots today, work, and a proposal to write. At the same time, I should say, I really enjoy being busy.

(Glad I skipped the trip to Webster Hall last night ~ But! Happy Birthday Heidi!!)

Keep Your Hands Clean

Today, in class, I spotted I girl that I, admittedly, envy quite a bit. She has this ridiculous air of confidence and wears gloves like there's no tomorrow...And I don't mean winter gloves (although it did snow recently; unreal ~ right?) But she wears the cutest lacey, frilly, sculptural gloves that I ever did see. Thus, this post....

When I was little I got a new pair of party gloves every winter for a religious celebration. I miss the stacks and stacks of gloves that I outgrew. The gloves in the third picture would have to be my favorite of all these. Any that you particularly like??

Gold Victorian Sweetness

The Peep Toe Pumps by Chinese Laundry came in. They took a few wears to break them in (i.e. eliminate the excrutiating pain of impractical footwear) but they are actually quite comfortable now. I purposefully wore them on several occasions just so they would loosen up a bit...Aren't they dreamy? (Drool) ...Not gross.

Cats and Houses

As I promised, normal posting resumes tonight. My photographer and I starting a semester long project ~ shoots every weekend. So spring break was rather uneventful... I lied. I have a great story. Listen:

My brother and two old friends went to the creepiest abandoned house at around midnight yesterday. It was quite an experience. We crawled in through the back and got in through one of the doors that wasn't boarded up. The whole house looked like it was supposed to be burned down. After we peered into the basement I got chills and wanted to leave. Never mind the two graves to the right of the front porch. I don't really think I'm a total wuss all things considered......You know what? at least I got that far! >:[

This is the ModCloth dress I swooped up during the Cabin Fever Sale. It's called the Cats In Space Dress ~ I love, love love the print. It's the sweetest thing ever. The dress has absolutely no shape but it works with my body type...

I paired this outfit with the Madden Girl Pumps I've been abusing lately. I wear them so often...Don't you hate that? You love a pair of shoes but hate wearing them because they get beat up. I might post my tips on keep heels in tippy top shape. How's that sound...?

I just adore it. And, in other news, today is my last day of Spring Break. I'm so happy the warmer weather is drifting in. I can't imagine what a constantly temperate climate is like. I'm quite jealous of Parisians; I hear the weather there is constantly beautiful. Two essays and one midterm away from a short-term freedom.

Carbon + Blog

Being a Geography major I was thrilled to find this cause. Essentially, every blog generates a certain amount of carbon and these guys are hoping to offset the emissions by planting trees (the most natural way I can imagine) All us bloggers have to do is put their button in our sidebar, make a post, and email them. 
That's it! Then you get a confirmation letting you know that your tree has been planted. Most of my friends think I'm odd because I stress the importance or recycling, turning lights off, shopping locally...but it really does all add up. Get your button here.

It's Just...I'm A Superhero

That's my explanation! I've been gone because I'm busy saving the day!! Haven't you seen me flying around town? You don't believe me, do you?... Can we still be friends?

For Spring, I invested in the two beauties below. I'm so excited to mix them up. And, guess what!? I went thrifting for the first time! You don't believe that either? I guess we can't be friends.

CF Intensity Blouse

Today was plain day for me. I'm home after an eternity at University. (This also means I have access to my painting software and scanner!!) Naturally, I spent time sketching and (insert other creative outlets). In my time sketching I came up with this beauty. I'm very excited about the result. It's a bit elaborate but I would definitely still wear it with a long, solid tank underneath or maybe a high-waisted pencil skirt...

CF Intensity Blouse in Seafoam and Rose

This is a cropped sheer blouse featuring a yoke design on the front and parts of the back. It includes decorative buttons on the sleeves and a hook-eye closure on the back. Criticism? Compliments?

Craving: Loafer Heels

Not to say that Pradas are the only well-executed loafer heels...but these come pretty close to what I'd like to explore art museums in. Speaking of, I haven't visited my local art museum in forever (it's the weather's fault).

Most Coveted: March 2011

When I promised I'd be back later "tonight" I ended up going to a talent show and then Webster Hall in NY (all night) and got home at around 8 a.m. after breakfast at Ihop!...But I'll elaborate on that later.
 
 Anyway (upon investigating the blog) I realized that I hadn't complied a most coveted list for March ~ the result of an insane week. Happily, I already own two items on this list. So here it is:

I've been oggling steampunk and vintage jewelry (in class, and other locations) and I'm finding the best selection on Etsy. The unicorn necklace should need no explanation at this point...

I definitely want to save up for the convertible galaxy dress; it's such a dream. It can be worn about six different ways (probably more) and it's the perfect material for hot summery days. I hope it goes on a magical sale at some point. Please? Pleaseee?

Rest Assured

I've been horribly neglecting the blog this week, I know. I have an exam tonight that has stressed me out endlessly. Rest assured that normal broadcasting will resume later tonight (after the gym!)...
