Autumn, Return To Me

I can't wait for Autumn. It's my favorite season and it always brings good things. (Oh, and my birthday!)

(Thrifted Knit, Celebrity Pink Utility Pants ~ Last Seen Here, Speed Limit 98 Cone Heels)

This is an outfit I wore around the house last week. I love dressing up at home. It's an underrated activity, I think. The painting in the background is Autumn Fog by Leonid Afremov, my favorite painter. His work always includes bold colors and a crazy amount of contrast. Hopefully, I will own one of his pieces eventually.

Also, I have a classic movie date today. I'm jumping around like a 5 year old.

Shoe Profile: All Saints

My love for shoes far exceeds my love for clothing. I don't think I've ever mentioned it on this blog. There's really no meaningful, dense answer for why...It's just a preference of mine. I just came across these (among a whole  troop of other shoes) while exploring. I'll get into why I love them down below:

(1. Rho Heel, 2. Theta Heel, 3. Omega Heel, 4. Rosalina Heel)

1. Rho Heel: This is my favorite out of all my picks. The biggest reason is the bone-like color on the ankle cuff. I also love the subtle gleam on the heel. And, finally the lower portion reminds me of Martin Margiela's Spring 2008 Booties. Overall, this shoe would be perfect for my collection.

2. Theta Heel: Of the four, these are the pair I would debate over for some time. I love the strappy portion of the shoe and the Margiela inspired lower part, but I think the gleamy color of the heel could look cheap. I think I'd love them completely if the heel was gold.

3. Omega Heel: These are absolutely stunning and caught my eye immediately. I love the indent on the back of the heel and the subtle tracing on the bottom. The entire shape of the shoe is very architectural. Plus, they look like they'd be relatively comfortable.

4. Rosalina Heel: This shoe is so sweet. It looks like a combination of a little fairy, a mammoth skull, and an archer. I love feeling of wonder I get when I look at it. And I think the heel is perfectly designed.

Before The Storm Hits

I'm getting to be so non-creative with my titles. We literally took these photos before a storm hit. How telling. Anyway, this was my first chance to take the new wedges out for a ride. They're incredibly comfortable and make me look like a giant; which I love. I always thought wedges were tacky...especially the ones with a cork base. Ugh. I don't know why. They just look like a piece of wood stuck to some straps. Not appealing...to me, at least.

(Vintage Button Down, Celebrity Pink Pants, Qupid Lace Up Wedges ~ Last Seen Here, F21 Rings ~ Last Seen Here)

Also, to the sweet girl that complimented my pixie cut...I have long hair! It was a bit hard to tell in those pictures. But I do want to get a pixie cut eventually. I've never donated my hair before so I figured I should do it at least once. Not any time soon though. I'm enjoying these lengths...kind of. Can't wait until Fall, frankly.

Toys Of Intricate Conversation

I've been lucky enough to meet some of the kindest, most genuine stuffed beings in existence. And even luckier that most of them have agreed to move in. Sometimes I wonder if bad luck will ever hit. Until then, I cherish the intense and highly through-provoking conversations I have with these lads.

(Thrifted Floral Top, American Rag Motorcycle Jacket ~ Last Seen Here, Celebrity Pink Skinnies, Gifted Scarf)

Mercutio took this last one without asking. He also took a bunch of others I found later. He seems to like the camera. On this particular day, we were discussing the positives and negatives of pro-globalization foreign policy. I may run a fashion blog, but I certainly think just as critically as an political activist.

Hamilton Manor Photo Diary

1 Waiting for dinner. Wearing a vintage paisley top and velvet scarf.
2 The flower arrangements were so extravagant. We even got to take one home!
3 All the wall chandeliers were lovely. Nothing compared to the ceiling chandeliers though.
4 Brother doing his thing. Of course you all expected this.
5 Dessert was either this fruity arrangement or cupcakes!
6 Zoned out in front of the Onyx Room. There was something eerie about it.
7 Faux flowers in the lobby. Glad I caught these before we left!
8 The wise, old chandelier that told me about the trials and tribulations of being a light.

They're Here

No words can properly express how I feel about these. They're so beautiful in person.

(Qupid Peep Toe Wedges, CR Snowflake Tights)

If I attempt to speak about these, a bunch of drool and nonsense will pour out of my mouth so I'll just stop here. Oh and I beat the shit out of the gym today. I feel so ripped. [WOOF!]

Heat, All Around Us

As Jon Stewart would say: "It's been over 100, consistently."

(Restructured F21 Dolman Top, H&M Bandeau, eBay Celeb Pink Utility Pants)

I've been having a lot of fun styling these pants. Oh! And you will not believe what happened! When I went home for the weekend we hit a few stores and I found the same exact pair (different brand, of course) being sold for this "Amazing Price!" I nearly peed my pants. I got my pair for $6. The greatest thievery of all.

Also! Congratulations to Erinn Sluka! You are the winner of the LovingEco Giveaway.

Because I can relate to the feeling of being excited about a giveaway and not winning (quite often), I want you guys to know I'm going to try to make giveaways a regular thing. I have a ton of clothes/shoes that I rarely wear so I think they would best serve you; the sweetest readers ever...ever.

The Onyx Room

I had to attend a party today and it was quite fun...well except the kids running around. I'll be posting a standard photo diary later in the week. The manor that was rented out for the event was huge. We went around exploring and found this badass room; the Onyx Room.

Also, meet my brother. He likes video games, art, and photography. He's rad.

Standard creep-smells-the-flowers shot. More photos from the party to come later on!

Dear Followers, Help I Haz Bugs!

It's 3 a.m. right now and I'm not sure why I'm awake. O_O You know when you get the jitters in the middle of the night? That's how I feel. This post won't have any pictures but I do have a story about what just happened.

I'm home for the weekend and my home apartment (where my family lives) is pretty non-sensational. There is a spare room but it always smells like smoke and funkiness so I don't like sleeping in there. I set up a little make shift bed at the end of the hallway. I was really friggen proud of it too. It was comfy. It wasn't too hot because it low to the ground and near the room with the AC. Of course, when I woke up just now, there had to be a bug in my face. This has happened before and is really irritating. It means you have to get up and go out of your way to deal with the situation.

The last time this happened though, the bug was a cetipede. That was freaky. This time it was one of those boxy, octagonal-shaped flying bugs. The ones you see everywhere during the summer? One of those. I moved him and flushed him away. Sorry buddy...I am a pacifist no more. Now I'm awake. Bah.

Also, I just checked my stats and I'm not sure what you guys are asking from the blogging gods but thank you! The recent growth of CF has been incredible. I can't thank you enough! Here are some recurring faces:

1. Flora of Soujourned In Style (I love the color-driven posts)
2. Krystle of Dear Winsome (Her comments are always so sweet)
3. Sydney of Sydsense (I'd been willing to help with a banner for free!)
4. Dahhlayne of Forte-Expressivo (Her outfit combos are neat and different)
5. ???? of CoutureLust (I'm sorry I don't know your name!...What is it?)

There was one more really quirky girl I wanted to add on here but I can't seem to find her! Makes me sad. Anyway, these are just ladies (and perhaps lads, eventually?) that have been recurring commenters, who's blogs I liked, and/or are just plain sweet people that I'm glad to have met.

I'm going to try to sleep now. Wish me luck.

Yasmeen

PS: I know I've changed the layout about a bazillion times in the past week but I'm trying to find a combo I like so please bear with me! I'll stop being so bipolar when I find "the one"...

PPS: I'll announce the giveaway winner soon enough. Stay tuned.

Vintage Bottles And Whatnot

Yesterday I went down to my favorite family-run restaurant. It's a bit pricier than the mainstream chains but the food is absolutely incredible. If I were a robot, I would've short circuited. Good thing I'm not.

Quite possibly the easiest item to photograph on Earth. I have a pricier point-and-shoot and it yields lovely photos (like this one) but only if you aim carefully, focus carefully, and click carefully. Take that, DSLRs.

ALSO.
I just got these pair of utility pants off eBay. I can't imagine telling you the price because you'd probably find me and take my left arm (or other appendage, depending on your needs). Let's just say it was a steal.

(Celebrity Pink Utility Pants, Banana Republic (?) Bone Bangle, American Rag Lace Motorcycle Jacket, Bf's Beater)

Also, if you haven't entered my Elroy's Eco-Friendly Dress giveaway, click here! The dress is super pretty.

Tutorial: The Sock Bun

Remember when I said I'd post a tutorial for the Sock Bun centuries ago? Well I've finally got around to it. It's so damn (excuse the language) hot where I live and it's difficult to stay cool and look cute without damaging your hair. I love this style because you don't need to backcomb your hair to create volume!

Step-by-step instructions are down below!

1. Start with a clean sock that has lost its partner! (Preferably a sock that is close to your hair color)
2. Cut off the end of the sock where your toes would be. (I know, I know...It's okay just hold your breath)
3. Now roll the sock into a doughnut shape so that you can see through it.
4. Tie your hair up into a ponytail. I like mine to be a high ponytail but it works with a low ponytail as well.
5. Slip the doughnut sock onto your ponytail.
6. Drag the sock up to the ends of your pony tail. This is the tricky part!
7. Start to curl your hair under the sock and roll down. You want to tuck your hair into the sock on all sides.
8. Continue to roll down and tuck until you hit the base of the pony tail.
9. If you have any strays, just pin them down with a bobby pin or clip.
10. And voila! Perfect for keeping your hair up in the summer heat and looking cute (without damage!)

4 Things

I'm excited to say that I'm extremely content with how things are going in every aspect of my life. It's almost a little freaky! I'm kind of nervous about the next unplanned mishap...Anyway, I'm going to have a hectic schedule in the Fall (and I may be leaving home for a few weeks before summer ends) so here are some things I'm enjoying now, before the leaves dry up and run away...

1 Waking up to this little guy. His name is Sullivan "Sully" Sullenberger. He's named after the pilot who,    incredibly, landed his plane in the Hudson after it began failing. You'll meet the rest of the family soon enough.
2 Beautiful color to brighten up our dull kitchen. White walls make me think of mental institutions.
3 A new scent my mom gifted me. I can only describe it as a feminine musk. I just swim in it sometimes...
4 Zombie stories with the boy. We just recently got into this podcast: We're AliveDo not listen alone!!

Also, the Elroy's Dress Giveaway is still open! If you love clothes for a cause, you'll love this.
