Attire | It's Unlikely But I'll Try

The weather has been quite bipolar in the Northeast. Yesterday we had a spontaneous snow storm of 5 - 8 inches; definitely new for late October. Today was warmer but walking outside to snow gave the illusion of frostiness.

Appropriately, I wore this ASOS shearling jacket by A | Wear that I've had since last winter. It's absolutely the warmest piece I've ever owned ~ putting it on feels like sinking into a blanket. It's unreal.

Here are a few photos from our grocery trip ~ I don't know about everyone else but I was stocking up for hibernation.

New In | Princess Heels and Pin Stripes

Some new additions to the family:

First, I'd like to have a tiny celebration for the unreal price I paid for these heels. I want to share but it's almost unfair. They fit a little strange right now but I figure they need that initial-adjustment time.

The second addition is the sweetest bag I've ever seen; that means a lot from a non-bag person. I've only worn it out once and I got so many compliments on it. It was sent to me by Vicki from R&Em. The 30 day giveaway is still going on at their Facebook/Twitter! They're giving away one bag every day of October. Go go go.

I'll be styling both these lads later this week.

Note the awesome pin stripe lining ~ I love it. Also, layered tights for Halloween. Yes.

Travel | Washington D.C.

The trip to Washington D.C. was almost too much fun. I was starting to feel a little spoiled towards the end. Plus, there was the added benefit of being praised ~ I was the event planner, shhhh

To tell you the truth I've never been as patriotic as people tell me I should be. I've never felt particularly attached to America or any other country for that matter. I think it's a result of my global-first mindset. I love everything and everyone.

But I won't discount the architecture there; it was absolutely stunning. Regardless of my apathy towards nationalism, I felt so at ease and happy. The air and atmosphere is just a little bit...greener?

Oh, and I may or may not be allowed to share this information but...my friend Mariah is actually a decendant of Thomas Jefferson. We went to see the Jefferson Memorial and it was a pretty remarkable moment. It's neat to see his blood walking around looking so cute. I love her!

Midnight Blue Fancies

Here's a classic Yasmeen set featuring midnight blues, stars, maps, and frilly things. It may be a bit silly but I've never been able to get over my childhood dreams of being an explorer; an explorer of all sorts of things, not just Earth! This set exemplifies my silly idealism and childish mentality so well. Feel free to giggle.

The Nina Ricci Dress has to be my absolute favorite. It's too perfect for me.

Midnight Blue

Alberta Ferretti Boat Neck Dress, $415
We Are Handsome Scoop Neck Dress, $365
Alberta Ferretti Sheer Top, $243

Chimney House or Something

Jason took us all to one of his favorite restaurants last week; a restaurant whose name I'm sad to have forgotten. But, I believe we will be returning soon so, no worries, I'll get that name!

They make the most incredible pizza. It's got the perfect balance. Loaded toppings but it doesn't sag like it just ran a marathon. I loved it.

I'm going to tell you a secret about my drinking habits at restaurants (and, no, I don't mean alcoholic beverages; I rarely drink) I always order unsweetened iced tea. Mo gets upset because I'll spend half our time in whatever restaurant sifting and opening sugar packets. I just don't like the taste of canned iced tea.

It's just not authentic. You get it, don't you?

You remember Mariah and Jason right? They're still working on the web series.

Also, I have had the most amazing week! Yesterday I got to meet Max Brooks, author of World War Z and I actually got Mo's copy of the book signed! It was awesome.

Plus today I visited D.C. and got photos with the new Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial. It was such an eye-opening experience. I can't wait to share all the pictures.

Mixology Test Failed

I've never been too good at print mixing but sometimes I have highs and lows. This is one of my lows. An all-black outfit signifies a lack of creativity (or perhaps time) on my part. Here's a classic Yasmeen outfit: black pumps, black top, black vest, nearly-black pants.

Then again, it was a meeting day, that could be the reason for this outfit. Today was interesting. I had to watch a documentary on human trafficking in my class...It was upsetting to say the least. I love to keep this blog free of depressants but I think there's so much wrong with the way we live. I just can't help it.

I guess a blog is just whatever you make of it.

And there's the classic mousy-mouth smile I can't help. It's so annoyingly me.

Let's Not Be Static

This weekend has been really relaxing. I ended up skipping the football game for the sake of studying. It's actually a pretty telling action on my part -- I've never really taken any interest in sports, and particularly not as much interest as I take in my studies. Sometimes reading a regression analysis can be quite calming.

Here's a variation on my last outfit. I'm loving the idea of tying up maxis. I can't remember who inspired it but I'm excited to try it with all my skirts. It gives your outfits a slight edge/variation.

It's getting chilly here so aggressively fast. Ugh...Not sure I'm ready to be drenched in that many layers.

LOVE The Autumn Breeze

This post by Annika inspired me to get back into blogging (again). It really is extremely difficult for me to keep it consistent. And it's for a few different reasons. I work (a lot) and the rest of my time is spent in class or out in the world with friends. It's tough finding a balance...and lugging a camera around!

Anyway, these maxis have been incredibly popular recently and, assuming you own one, I wanted to show you one (of many) ways to wear it for Fall.

It's really simple! With chillier weather, stack on layers on top (and bottom!) I'm wearing mine with distressed jeans, a neutral button down and black pumps.

(LOVE Maxi Dress ~ Last Seen Here, Distressed Jeans, Dexter Pumps ~ Last Seen Here, Wildlife Sportswear Top ~ Last Seen Here)

I keep expecting that when I get my own place and get situated, blogging will be easier...But, I bet it will be just the same! That's probably the secret no one wants to tell me. Do any of you have full time jobs? Is it difficult blogging while working full time? Is it just a matter of time?

Lots of good questions. Let me update you on other things (since I feel like it) I have no idea what I want to do when I graduate and it's kind of freaking me out. I've always mumbled I want to be a designer but I might be more fit to work in some enivronmental agency.
You probably didn't come here for all this real talk. My bad.

Dexter Pumps

I got these new Dexter Pumps with a giftcard I saved from last Christmas.

Aren't they sweet? And they go with everything! Worn here with H&M socks.

More pictures to come.
