Outfit | Pony Girl

Yesterday was another scorcher. I won't even bother going into how much I dislike hot weather. If you read any post from the last three summers, you'll know. Anyway, this shirt came in the mail and of course I immediately put it on and called all my friends to tell them. All 3 of them.

When I picked it out, my friends directed me to the definition of 'horse girl' on Urban Dictionary; quite flattering! It's actually pretty suitable considering how much I squeal whenever we swish by a farm. TEAM PONIES FOREVER!! (See adorable pony to right...)
Pony Shirt, Detail Sunglasses, and Belt are from Romwe, Jeans are from American Eagle, and Sandals are from Lulu's. Adorable pony on the right is from Google.

Don't forget to enter my Vedette Giveaway! It ends July 20th.

Giveaway | Vedette Shapewear -- CLOSED

Floriana Bustier c/o Vedette, Music: Polish Girl by Neon Indian

I recently teamed up with Vedette Shapewear to create a video that captured the essence of their campaign: I've got nothing to hide. To me, that statement means knowing your body, your ambitions and being comfortable with who you are. There will always be someone ready to criticize your appearance. It's important to realize that changing who you are won't stop these critics, it will empower them. Let go of the empty opinions and rock whatever you have.

This campaign strives to help girls of all shapes and sizes feel comfortable in their own skin. To help you guys join the fun, Vedette Shapewear is offering 3 of my readers a shapewear of their choice from the basic line (any item not tagged Sensuale)! Just follow these steps:

1. Like Vedette Shapewear on Facebook
2. Follow Vedette Shapewear on Twitter
3. Be a follower of Castle Fashion via GFC or Bloglovin!
4. Leave a comment below with your email address.

Winners will selected randomly via random.org and contacted by the Vedette team through email.
Giveaway is international but not open to residents of the Philippines. Winners will be selected 7/20/12.

Outfit | Brave

I just got back from watching Brave and man was I right to be excited. I really loved it; Pixar keeps outdoing themselves every time. I also saw previews for two great movies coming out: Hotel Transylvania and Wreck-It-Ralph. Both look really awesome.

I've always been big on animated films with heavy moods and dense, meaningful messages. I loved Mary and Max, Up, Monster House, Howl's Moving Castle, Paprika, Persepolis, Zero, and a bunch of other animated movies I can't remember. Those are my jams.

Anyway, here's yesterday's outfit. I seriously can't wait for it to cool down again. I miss my layers and scarves. I was wearing A.J. Morgan Sunglasses, Forever 21 Top + Jeans, and Boots via Threadsence. Looking back, I don't really like this outfit. But, it's okay; style changes every second!

Outfit | Cutouts + Oasap Giveaway!

I love this dress. It's funny because when deciding on whether or not to buy it, I asked a couple different people (including my boss at the time) and they all said, "That dress is you." After those comments, the other dresses I was considering scurried away. The cut outs are nice for ventilation.

I'm wearing cardigan, dress, and jeans from Forever 21 and sandals from Lulu's.

Also, Oasap is running a massive giveaway. You can vote up to 3 times on whichever pieces you'd like to win. All you have to do is sign in (or sign up, if you haven't), visit the giveaway page, select the size of the item you'd like, and vote.  Winners will be selected at random on July 10th. Enter here!

New In | Fruity Feet

My style swings wildly between super manly man and obnoxious kawaii girl. I'm sure you can guess which category this purchase fits into. I immediately knew these boots would be mine after I spotted them on Threadsence. If you decide to get them, you may want to go a half size up. They are a bit tight. I'm sticking with my regular size because I figure they'll stretch out as I wear them more.

I also picked up another pair of A.J. Morgan sunglasses from Threadsence. The first pair of A.J. Morgans I got is ridiculously durable so I figured I'd invest in another pair. They're down below.

I love the sharp lines on these guys. (Special thanks to the candle holders that served as great supporting actors in this photoshoot. You'll have your money by the end of the week.)

PS: I normally can't afford $100+ shoes. These items were purchased with a gift card I won.

Inspiration | Hey, Thanks!

I haven't been able to shoot much in the way of outfits or pretty things as a result of this new job. I just started a few days ago so I'm taking time to acclimate. Instead of a typical outfit post, I'd like to take a minute to say thank you. I'm pretty shitty at properly expressing my emotions but I really appreciate all the support, tips, ideas, suggestions, and conversations we've shared with each other.

You guys are seriously the best and I can't really put into words how nice it is to have people all over the world that don't think I'm crazy for liking all the ridiculous things I like. Here's to the continued survival of the fashion blogging community in it's most authentic form. (Clink)

And now, some of my favorite outfits from other bloggers... (all blogs listed down b e l o w ! )

Food | Things I've Been Eating

Looking at these makes me hungry. Maybe I shouldn't be documenting all my food?...I'll probably just end up eating more. Oh well! Above is pasta with mushrooms and olives (I think?) with tomato sauce and parmesan cheese! Below is the one recipe I've perfected: chicken noodle soup. I love it.

And, if you're wondering, that's the Soup Nazi on my bowl. I love Seinfeld and the fact that they included a character all about soup makes it doubly awesome. SOOUUUUUUPPPPPPPP.

Outfit | Light Up The Sky

Took these photos in the middle of some empty field yesterday. We couldn't have been too close to civilization because there were tons of deer running around. I love deer--OKAY HEAR ME OUT.

I don't drive on a daily basis (though I do have a car....it just sits there) so I've never had the "Holy shit that's a fuggin deer coming straight at---" experience. If I'm understanding correctly, this is a pretty common experience, no? Well, I think they're sweet. I've only seen them in one context my entire life: nomming in the fields and hanging out with other deer. And that shit's adorable.

Anyway, I was wearing a plaid shirt dress from Romwe (sold out - similar), Forever 21 cardigan (in stores) and jeans (similar), and Fergie pumps . Oh and the A.J. Morgan sunnies (buy here). I have some more sunglasses on the way so you guys won't have to see these as much!

Not sure what's going on with my hair here....but I like it!

I have really pronounced dimples that decide to show up whenever, even when I'm super angry.

Outfit | Multi-Color

Good Morning!

I'd like to introduce you to what will be the typical background of all my future outfit photos. This is home. I sort of like it. I like the circle of green down below. And all the animals running around. Feels eerily like a Disney movie setting....Hmmm....

Anyway, I was wearing a the classic AJ Morgan sunnies from PLNDR, multicolor scarf from a street vendor in NY, a new cardigan I picked up at Forever 21 this past weekend, Forever 21 jeans, strappy sandals from Lulu's and rings from Romwe + Forever 21.

My beetle ring seems to get the most comments/compliments ever...
He doesn't like attention so I try to drive the conversation in a different direction.

Life | Egyptian Jewelry

During our last photography sessions before graduation, Mahria showed me this gorgeous gem of a book. In Enchanted Jewelry of Egypt by Azza Fahmy we explore the societal meaning and variation of jewelry within different parts of Egypt. It also chronicles the evolution of jewelry over a one hundred year period. It's amazing to read about the symbolism behind different pieces.

Azza Fahmy doubles as a world-renowned jewelry designer and also takes the reader into the production of these pieces. Here are some of my favorites....

The fish ornament below (presumably part of a necklace) caught my attention for it's stunning detail. I imagine fish have historically symbolized prosperity; after all the Nile is the source of so much sustenance for that region. I also just love fish!

"A rare ring made in 1900 from 950-carat silver" This also struck me for it's sense of modernity. It's interesting to see so many contemporary designs drawing upon past jewelry production. I've seen similar rings on so many blogs!

Mahria was wearing a teal maxi from ?? and my Alternative Apparel cardigan. I'm wearing a Forever 21 tank (buy here) + jeans (buy here), a Brooks Brothers cardigan (buy here), and H&M sneakers.

Allan had such a hard time photographing us; we can never keep straight faces in our photos!

And to appropriately end this post, here's my name is Arabic:  ياسمين

Outfit | Float Like A Butterfly

I spent an hour aggressively photographing squirrels before meeting up with Mo today. Most of them were really uncooperative but there was one that didn't mind me sticking my camera in his face. I named him Hank.

Later we watched Prometheus in 3D...Honestly, I was really disappointed with the flow of the plot. And I was expecting a much more satisfying ending. But the landscape was pretty amazing so I guess if you're into stunning CGI, go check it out.

I was wearing AJ Morgan sunglasses from PLNDR (purchased with a giftcard!), galaxy print blouse courtesy of Romwe (similar one here), cat print tee courtesy of OASAP (buy here), Forever 21 jeans, and Bamboo sandals from Lulu's (buy here).

There are consequences to shameless hair flipping of course! Here I am detangling my hair from my hair-eating sunglasses.

New In | Mint and Peace

My mom walked in during this shoot and asked, "Why don't you get a job doing...whatever this is?" I don't know if there is such a career but I'd love to spend my days arranging items in interesting ways and photographing them. Sounds like it'll definitely pay the bills...for a day or two.

Onto the items! I recently received this therapeutic set by Chymia (paid for with a gift card win to Shabby Apple) and I haven't tried the foot bath yet but I love the lip balm. The scent is so relaxing. And, all their ingredients are organic herbs and oils. Loff!

New Bamboo Sandals from Lulu's for summer!

They also sent along this Mary Kay Lash Love Mascara (which, coincidentally, I already own!) I really dislike having duplicate items, especially when it comes to makeup. Not sure why...it just makes me anxious, like I have to speed through them.

This headband isn't new but it sort of fit the theme of shoot so I included it. I believe I got it at Target last year. I have yet to wear it for an entire day. The owl necklace is a gift from Romwe and The Little Zen Companion was a gift from Mo.
